Freshman Year: An Essential Guide For Students Entering College
High school seniors spend a great deal of time getting admitted to college. For many it starts even before their senior year. They engage in a variety of activities and hobbies to “build” their resume, take courses to prepare for the SAT test, take the SAT test, visit a variety of schools on their wish list, spend hours perfecting their college entrance essay, review their financial options, and anxiously wait for the results.
Once admitted to the school or schools of their choice they make their decision and commit. At that point they begin their logistical preparations packing, bringing their favorite items, and getting help usually from parents moving into their new home/dorm. A few words of warning, advice, and occasionally some tears from their parents and now they stand alone.
Hopefully, the orientation they participate in is inspiring and filled with helpful hints. Most of the time the orientation contains team building, social networking, and the instilling of school spirit.
The question that should be asked is“What is really going on and how can I make the best of the college experience for myself?” This book written by a retired college professor, former Dean, and the veteran of planning countless freshman orientations, answers that important question in a helpful manner. With stories, humor, and wit the author gives you your essential guide to your freshman year.
